Tactics Ogre Creator Yasumi Matsuno Working On New RPG Unsung Story

Tactics Ogre Creator Yasumi Matsuno Working On New RPG Unsung Story

Tactics Ogre and Vagrant Story creator Yasumi Matsuno is working on a new strategy role-playing game for 'a variety of digital devices,' titled Unsung Story.

Actually, make that two games. Unsung Story is being developed as two separate titles, in collaboration with the developer named Playdek, who develop hobby and tabletop games. The first game is Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians, which is the aforementioned strategy RPG.

Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians will take place in the fantasy world Rasfalia that has been through half a century of war. As you play the game, you’ll discover tales of heroic deeds and the root of legends that were told in the aftermath of the war.

'I'm pleased to be creating this amazing world and rich story exclusively for Playdek,' said Yasumi Matsuno. 'It's exciting to develop my vision with the leading company of the genre. I look forward to bringing this new world to life and reaching a new audience of avid gamers.'

The second Unsung Story game will be a card game for digital devices and will be co-designed by Christophe Boelinger, who is a renowned board game designer from France. The game will pit two players against one another in battle.

Both Unsung Story games will allow for both offline and online play. The card game will be released at some point in 2014, with the RPG to follow at a later point in time.

Grand Theft Auto V Coming To PC This Fall According To Nvidia

Grand Theft Auto V Coming To PC This Fall According To Nvidia

Grand Theft Auto V is reportedly coming to PC this fall, according to Nvidia’s senior director of Investor Relations, Chris Evenden.

In an earnings call transcribed by Seeking Alpha (via: Polygon), Evenden discussed ongoing changes in the PC market, that are being affected by PC gamers. Evenden went on to explain that PC gamers are preparing their systems for upcoming titles slated for this fall, such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto V and Assassin’s Creed IV.

Evenden’s statement has credibility behind it as Nvidia are working with Ubisoft on optimizing Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for Nvidia hardware. In the past, the company has also worked in partnership with Activision on the Call of Duty series. Nvidia have not, however, announced any such partnership with GTA developer Rockstar yet.

On the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Grand Theft Auto V will launch September 15th.

Shooting Games Are At A Difficult Crossroad, Says Shmup Developer G.Rev's CEO

"While we have seen more shoot 'em ups developed on consoles this generation, the market for shooters has been shrinking. Cave, makers of Akai Katana and Deathsmiles, is going through a transition. G.rev recently released Kokuga in the West and Siliconera asked Hiroyuki Maruyama, the CEO of G.rev, his thoughts about the state of the shooting game market.

'

Shooting Games Are At A Difficult Crossroad, Says Shmup Developer G.Revs CEO

'

"Yes, the current shooting market in Japan is at a very difficult crossroads. I am certain that the genre will not fade away at the dojin level, but in terms of an incorporated studio, to put it bluntly – you are not able to make a living on just making shooters," Maruyama said. G.rev's history is in arcade games and shooters. The company co-developed Ikaruga with Treasure and also made Under Defeat HD and Mamorukun Curse! which were also released here.

'

"With that in mind, you can say that we made Kokuga to target a more general audience. Since you can play with up to four people with only one copy of the game, we hope that established shmup fans will use the game to promote the genre to new gamers," Maruyama added.

'

G.rev's next project is developing a new Game Center CX or Retro Game Challenge title with Namco Bandai. I asked Maruyama about transitioning to other genres and what kind of game he would like G.rev to try. "Actually, we have developed quite a few titles outside of the shooting genre. Most of those projects were contracted work, so the G.rev name was not featured on those games. So, as in the past, we will continue to develop games across a variety of genres in the future," said Maruyama. "We would be interested in developing games in a number of genres. Personally, I would like to try to make a multiplayer action title. We will, of course, continue to make shooters as well."

'

We will have more discussion about G.rev's shooters on Siliconera soon.
